FREIGHT FIELD NOTES
Cross Dock Warehouse Checklist: What to Confirm Before Booking
XDockHub · October 15, 2026
Use this cross dock checklist to prepare freight details, confirm facility capabilities, and compare warehouse offers.
Choosing a cross dock warehouse is about fit, not only proximity. Before accepting an offer, verify that the facility can receive the freight and complete the transfer within the required window.
Freight details
Record pallet count, dimensions, total weight, commodity, stackability, special handling, and any damage or rework requirements. Explain whether freight is floor-loaded or palletized.
Truck and dock requirements
Confirm trailer type, dock height, liftgate needs, forklift capacity, appointment requirements, and whether both inbound and outbound equipment can access the site.
Time and access
Share inbound ETA, outbound pickup window, carrier contacts, and whether after-hours service is required. Ask about waiting-time and missed-appointment charges.
Pricing and scope
Request a total price that identifies labor, equipment, rework, storage, and additional handling charges. Confirm whether overnight holding is included or billed separately.
Documentation and communication
Agree on check-in instructions, freight counts, exceptions, and how completion will be confirmed. Keep relevant instructions with the booking.
